Mason is walking!!!

(Okay, just an fyi...this post was actually from a week ago.  I have been trying to get a video downloaded, but so far have had no such luck...so I guess it will just be a few pics instead!)

It took a while, but just before 14 months Mason has officially started to walk!!!  He was so close for so long, but didn't quite have the courage.  He had taken a few steps here and there, but more so when he didn't realize he was doing it on his own.  On Sunday (04/18/10), he stood up in the middle of the kitchen and took a few steps toward me...I continued to back up and he continued to follow!!  We walked through the whole house, and even woke Nolan up from a nap to show him the exciting news:)  Nolan was just as excited as Mama and Mason!!!  Unfortunately Daddy was working and didn't get to see, but as soon as he got home, Mason couldn't wait to show off his new moves.  Now he won't stop!!!  We went to the park today and he walked and walked...I took a little video w/ the camera, to show off his newest accomplishment, but haven't quite figured out how to download it correctly...I hope to add a video clip soon, if I can figure out how to do it!!  Instead, here are some pics!

"Melman" and "Gloria"

Some friends of ours, Doug & Jami Nyhuis, have a daughter named Sage.  As long as they have been friends, Sage has refused to call Nolan by his actual name...instead she calls him "Melman."  If any of you have seen Madagascar and Madagascar 2, "Melman" is the giraffe in the movie that professes his love for "Gloria", the hippo.  Since they have been friends, Melman and Gloria have developed a sort of love/hate relationship and are so funny together!!!  Gloria, aka Sage, considers Melman, aka Nolan, her "one true love."  They are so funny together, and are hilarious to watch!  Just like the characters in the movie, they sort of have a love/hate relationship going on...and Gloria, aka Sage, is definitely in charge:)!!!  Nolan pretty much goes with the flow, and most of the time doesn't seem to mind that she will only call him Melman.  Sage, on the other hand, gets very upset when Nolan calls her Gloria, so of course, he does it just to get a rise out of her.  Recently we went to the Whitecaps season opener and met the Nyhuis family there.  While we there, Gloria and Melman fought over feeding Gloria's baby doll, and finally both took turns and did a great job...they will make great parents someday, lol!!  After the game, we all went to the Beltline Bar for dinner.  Melman and Gloria sat across from each other at the table and Gloria told Melman how much she loved him, and how they were going to get married, and she would be the princess, and he could be the prince...it was so funny and SOOO cute!!!  Melman didn't really quite seem to be feeling it though...he looked at her like she was crazy!  I posted some pics of the game, and also included some pics of some other fun times they have had together...a bowling date, and Melman's b-day party where Gloria gave him one of his favorite presents...a red/white/blue Tow-Mater, airplane, and Lightning McQueen, from the "Cars" movie!!!

 

Easter

We celebrated Easter w/ the Kennedy side of the family the week before Easter.  We had a great time and enjoyed the day...it was perfect weather, especially for an Easter egg hunt!!!  All of the boys always have such a good time together, Nolan and Mason just adore their cousins!  They are all so fun to watch, and it's always pure entertainment when we can all be together...toward the end of that evening, Christian and Nolan were working out w/ Jillian Michael's...priceless!!
The Easter Bunny sure was good to them this year...I don't remember having so many Easter celebrations when I was a kid, lol!!!  On Easter Sunday we went to Papa Rick and Grammy Tammy's for lunch, and then to Uncle "Mott" and Aunt "Lolo's for dinner...unfortunately I don't have pics from that day b/c I dropped my camera a few days before and broke the lens.  I'm hoping it can be fixed, but I'm still waiting to hear back.  I am hoping to get pics from that day from my sister-in-law Lori, who took many pictures both at my Dad's, and also at their house.  Overall, we had a very busy and enjoyable Easter!  I plan to post more of the Easter pics when I get a hold of them:)!!

A visit to Fredrick Meijer Gardens

We have a family membership to FMG's, and recently have made a few trips to see the butterflies that are blooming!!  Nolan absolutely loves the butterflies, and was really hoping he'd be able to hold one!  He actually had two land on his hat, which was the highlight of his day!!  Mason loved the butterflies as well, and kept pointing to any that flew by making grunting noises!  We had a great day, and have taken advantage of our membership visiting the butterflies often.
